Windows 10: Windows 10 backup fails everytime with error code 0x81000019

I have recently tried to backup my files on windows to my Hard Disk Drive. The drive has around 3000 GB of free space but still whenever I try to backup, the backup fails with error code 0x81000019. I have 3 language packs currently installed in my PC. I am using Backup and RestoreWindows 7 as the Backup option from the settings app is not showing my Hard disk. Please help me out in this.

Windows 10 from a Windows 7 upgrade.
Windows 7 system backups worked fine, stopped after migration.

Also see lots of errors in the event viewer about VSS issues

Interesting one is the volume shadow copy service times out and then stops:

The VSS service is shutting down due to idle timeout.




I have to start the volume shadow copy service manually after.


I've tried:

"Clean Boot" - How to perform a clean boot in Windows
disabled startups and non ms services - no change

Tried a sfc /scannow - which reported no errors

chkdsk reports no errors

It talks about low disk space in one of the event viewer entries but there is 40GB free


Any help would be appreciated.

When I try to backup my laptop running windows 10 I get the following error message "Error code: 0x81000019. Please help me remedy this problem thanks.
