Is the backup system built into Windows 10 completely useless? Or am I misunderstanding something?

I just set it up for the first time and found that it only backs up files that have changed in the account I set it up in.

It told me it was backing up, but when I checked what was on the external drive it had ignored 20Gb of photos in the current account. What it had put on the disk were any files that had changed. Each Word document that I had edited, for example. I liked the fact that it kept each version, but what about the crown jewels that is the photo collection? It’s simply not there (unless I go an edit a photo, then it gets backed up). The same with documents I had not changed since the initial backup.

Secondly, there are other user accounts on the PC, the Windows 10 backup ignore those as well. It only backed up the account I ran the setup in.

This looks like a disaster waiting to happen. People will think they are backing up their computers, only to find they are not when they come to try and restore.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
