Windows 10: Windows 10 basic functions completely broken

Hello. I have the largest and most fundamental problems one could have with a computer.

The most noticeable problem is the wifi section not working at all. The little icon on the taskbar simply disappeared days ago and it has been impossible for me to connect to wifi ever since. Should I open the wifi menu through the notification thing, it just shows a complete lack of any network, though a week ago, it showed mine as well as those of my many neighbors. It is a miracle that my situation is such that I can still connect to the Internet using a physical item of sorts, I would be absolutely helpless otherwise. The physical thing attached to my computer makes no effort provide a stable connection though, alternating between working and not working every ten seconds, so I very seriously need the wifi options back.

The second problem, also awfully inconvenient, is that the settings function stopped working an hour ago. If I click the button to open the menu, it shows that blue screen with the white cog endlessly and does not progress anywhere. This means I have no way to attempt to mend the internet problem myself, and changing the screen's brightness has become much more difficult as well.

The third problem is that my search function ceased to work as well when I tried to look for any kind of troubleshooter that comes with the system. It simply won't let me type anything into there, and if I by some miracle still manage to force some words into there, it won't even start searching, there is no animation or visible work on the computer's part.

I tried looking at the task manager. Apparently, while the settings function is showing the blue screen, there is absolutely nothing that would indicate the settings are in the process of being opened on the task manager. This is infuriating and frustrating. In addition, opening the search function causes no change as well. I am deeply distressed by all of this.

I hope you can see why these three problems are murdering every kind of enjoyment from the using of the computer. It's really awful and I am in a lot of sorrow because I have no idea how to fix any of this. I beg of the kind specialists here to suggest actions which will fix these problems and let me use the settings and connect to wireless internet again. Better yet, if anyone has an idea about what might have caused all of this, I could prevent this from happening again from the future.

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.


Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
