  1. Windows 10 becomes non-responsive, and a mysterious fix

I have 2 year old HP desktop running Windows 10 which I keep up to date. Over the last couple of days it became very unresponsive application giving not responding message. This seemed to be related to a shortage of memory, often over 95% usage, even though I was only running a few applications. I have 8GB and 12 GB Virtual. Even when I closed all of my applications it was still struggling. This is not the first time I have encountered this issue. Previously I found that the monthly Microsoft update returned the system to normal operation so I checked and found the May update had been

  2. Non response

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to run system file checker scan and check the issue.

Sfc /scannow will inspect all of the important Windows files on your computer, including Windows DLL files. If System File Checker finds an issue with any of these protected files, it will replace it.

    Follow the steps:

    • Press Windows key + X and select
      Command prompt (Admin).
    • At the Command Prompt, type:
      sfc/scannow
I suggest you to run the app troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store

    Hope it helps.

Let us know the status of the issue.

    Thanks.

Windows 10 becomes non-responsive, and a mysterious fix

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
