Windows 10: Windows 10 - Black Screen upon boot-up, no cursor, ctrl+alt+del doesn't work.

I have a Dell laptop I recently upgraded to Windows 10, it worked perfectly on past startups with Windows 10 A.k.a I shut it down before and it booted up alright, and suddenly, when I booted it up today, it's just giving me a black screen with NO mouse cursor. It showed the mouse cursor once after about ten minutes of waiting but after rebooting again it's gone.

I tried ctrl+alt+del and that doesn't work, I tried changing the monitor, exe. Nothing worked.

I don't want to do a clean or dirty install as I don't have any flash drives or CD's and my laptop doesn't have a disk drive anyways.

Help please?

CTRL + ALT + DEL menu not rendered at the top


Okay first of all.

It is DEFINITELY not a RAM problem. I have 16GB. The operating system is running in the background and is responding when I press CTRL + ALT + DEL, cause you can see the circle next to the cursor. The cursor responds as well..

Second, some people suggested me to use CTRL + SHIFT + ESC, I have not tried, but I will. Also this is not my problem. My problem is that the CTRL ALT DEL menu among which you can chose to turn on the task manager gives me black screen. Alt tabbing does not work with ANY software that is frozen in fullscreen, but that is normal.

On windows 7 this was not an issue. When nothing worked, ctrl alt del always worked.

On windows 10, CTRL alt deleting does not work, with some full screen applications.

• Have you installed all pending updates?
• Are you able to log into Desktop?
• Is the issue specific to Ctrl + Alt + Del screen?

Black screen error can occur if the computer is not up to date with all Drivers and Windows updates. Install all pending updates and check if that helps.

CTRL ALT DEL Black Screen

Hi there, whenever my PC crashes (mainly during games) and I try to CTRL ALT DEL, I get to a black screen with just a cursor and am forced to shut down my PC. Any way I can fix this?

Duplicate thread : Ctrl + Alt + Del Black Screen requires HDMI unplug/replug.

When my PC crashes and I try to Ctrl + Alt + Del I get a black screen. Unplugging the HDMI and putting it back in brings back my screen but this isn't great as my desktop icons rearrange. Is the a proper fix for the black screen issue? Thanks.
