Windows 10: Windows 10 Black Screen with solid underscore. Can't boot PC.

Yesterday I noticed that anything on my F drive would not work. If I tried to go to deep into any folders I would eventually hit a "file not accessible. Device doesn't exist" error which meant I couldn't play any of my games on that drive.Command prompt told me there was a system repair waiting so I reset my PC and of course my only option to restart was "update and restart" but once it restarts it shows what graphics card I have for a second then goes into a black screen with a solid underscore.I can't press F8 or anything else to get into boot options. I've tried letting it sit on that s

PC not booting. Only displaying underscore

Hi. I have recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my Desktop PC.

The PC is not booting to windows. Instead it displays a solid underscore in the top left corner of the screen and does nothing. No opportunity to enter BIOS, even. Nothing except the underscore.

If I turn the PC off at the mains and leave it for 30 seconds or so the PC will then boot to Windows fine, so I wonder if there is something stored in non volatile memory somewhere that is causing a problem. I can't think what it might be though.

The problem started when I reinstalled Windows. The first time I had to cancel the installation and when the computer rebooted, the underscore appeared. I managed to get Windows installed by powering down at the mains and assumed that the problem would correct
itself after formatting my C drive. But it hasn't. It currently happens after every time I restart the PC.

Does anybody have any suggestions to what the problem might be?

Windows 10 won't boot, black screen with blinking underscore

So my pc stopped working on Monday I've spent the past couple of days trying to figure out how to fix it but haven't found anyone else that's having the same issue as me. Monday morning I booted up my pc and was got a black screen with a blinking underscore at the top left. I have my most important stuff already backed up so that's not an issue.

​My problem comes from not being able to use most of the "commands" in the startup menu. So I can't follow other threads and fix my problem.



Continue Startup, Diagnostics, Boot Menu and network boot all lead to the same black screen with the blinking underscore at the top left corner. Diagnostics gives me another option "dps self- test" It can detect my hardrive and the tests said that everything was fine.Utilities lets me set the time and date and "flash system rom" though I can't actually scroll down to that second option. I also can't scroll down to the "Run UEFI Application..." Pressing ctrl + s and F10 take me to computer setup though i'm not sure what I can do with that.

​I usually have a second hardrive for my steam library but I've disconnected that, as well as everything else other then my mouse, keyboard and monitors.
