  1. Windows 10 Black Screen.

    Hello all,

I have a Dell Inspiron 3147 that came stock with Windows 8.1. A few months back I decided to give Windows 10 a try so I upgraded. Everything went smoothly and I had zero problems for quite some time. About a month ago I went to turn it on and it booted fine, however when it got to the login screen the screen was just black, no cursor or anything. I couldn't get any keyboard commands to work so I tried restarting it. After several restarts to the same problem the repair computer screen displayed after boot. I went through each of the options hoping to preserve all my installed apps. No luck with any of that so I finally just reset it while preserving all of my personal files. Everything ran smoothly for a few days and then I encountered the same issue. I figured it might be something to do with one of the apps I had installed so I reset it once again and left it completely stock. Again it ran fine for a few days but then I encountered the same exact problem. At this point I figured it might be something driver related, after some searching I found that the black screen is often associated with the graphics driver. With that I started troubleshooting the graphics driver. I was successfully able to start the laptop in safe mode where I messed around with rolling the drivers back, installing the latest driver from Dell, uninstalling the driver entirely, etc. Nothing worked. I reset the pc once again and hoped that maybe I would get lucky this time. This time it ran fine for about a week before giving me the black screen. I wonder if the issue is related to a new update that is being installed soon after I reset the laptop. I'm not sure how to figure out which update might be the culprit and how to prevent said update from being installed. Any help is appreciated!

    :)

    Windows 10 Black Screen.

    Hello *Smile

Rather than resetting your laptop why not try a clean install using a downloaded Windows 10 ISO from the Microsoft Tech Bench. You can then bypass the update process and jump straight to the latest version. Since you already have activated W10 on your laptop it will re-activate after the clean install without you needing to input any product key during installation. You will need to make sure you download the exact match for your previous system, 32 or 64bit and Home or PRO along with the right language version.

Of course you will need to back up all you personal files before you do this, if you have not already done so.
