Windows 10: windows 10 blue magnifying glass icon keeps popping up in system tray

over the past couple of weeks i've noticed a blank icon with a blue magnifying glass in the bottom left corner keeps popping up in my system tray, and when i hover over the icon it instantly disappears. i'm wondering how i can fix this, and/or if it's a virus


below i have attached a picture of the icon, and my taskbar icon settings








the glitched system tray icon seems to be the same as the windows explorer icon in the screenshot above

Magnifying glass icon

Why does the magnifying glass icon keep disappearing from the task bar and how do I get it back (and keep it there)? The last time I searched for magnifier.exe as someone suggested, got it back, now it's gone again. Please, this is driving me crazy.

As part of the configuration I was doing I removed the search box from my icon tray.

The icon of a magnifying glass next to the top item in your image (2503) is what I'm looking for to restore to my icon tray.

Do you remember windows 8.1 search? You would swipe on the right and get Search, then type in the box; it was searching locally so it was great to find apps etc.

It is that capability I no longer have in Windows 10.

Hi Linney--you can see my reply to Abdul and understand everything I'm asking about. The magnifying glass was in the icon tray after my update and I removed it while trying to get the icon tray and everything else to be how I wanted it; meaning as close
to my Windows 8.1 setup as possible. What has been lost is the local search capability that I had in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
