Windows 10: Windows 10 - Bluetooth Headset - All audio muted when application is using Microphone

Hi,I've scoured the internet to try find a resolution to an issue that seems to have gone unacknowledged by Microsoft for over a year at this point.I seem to have the same problem as Galbi in this thread Locked without resolution: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/why-does-using-a-bluetooth-headset-still-mute/052a2ac7-affd-4e38-bc6f-961078d23482When I use a Bluetooth headset and the microphone is "in use" any other applications audio is muted. Now wait right there Microsoft MVP poster, I have gone into Control Panel > Sound > Communications > Set to "Do Nothing"N

Bluetooth Headset Microphones Don't work with Windows 10

I cannot get any bluetooth headset microphone to work with Windows 10. I have tried three different bluetooth headsets, most recently a Corsair Gaming H2100. I have no problem getting the audio output to work just fine with any of them, but I cannot get
it to recognize the microphone. I have followed all of the obvious steps:

• Uninstalled and reinstalled the newest version of the drivers
• Restart my computer
• Disable other microphones
• Set the headset as the default recording device
• Check the levels and set to 100
• Remove the device with the device manager and reinstall
• Unplug and plug back in my bluetooth antenna
• Make sure that Windows is totally updated

None of these steps has made any difference. I am able to get wired microphones to work, but this isn't ideal with my current set-up, as I sit about 10 feet away from my computer and use my 55" television as my monitor. So, I have a really nice webcam that
I use as a microphone. It is fine, but I would really like to be able to use a bluetooth headset sometimes and not have to talk loudly to a microphone across the room.

Can you help with microphone mute on/off button not working on Windows 10?

Please help me with the microphone mute on/off button on headset not working --> I cannot mute my voice.

Here's the good news:

1. On Windows the Headset and Microphone audio is clear via Bluetooth. I can hear them, they can hear me.

2. Microphone/audio with Android phone tested good -- microphone mute on/off button works -- I can mute my voice with single press of the button if paired with the Android phone. It doesn't matter what app I use. I get an audio prompt through the headset
of mute on/mute off.

Here's the problem: the mute button on this Bluetooth Headset microphone doesn't work on Windows 10, so if I walk away from the laptop and need to mute/unmute, I have to run back to my laptop to use my mouse.

I called Taotronics technical support -- they said if the latest drivers are installed there's nothing more they can offer to help.

Windows indicates the best drivers are installed, but they are either outdated, Windows 10 does not support all the capability, or I need to do something.

Operating System: Windows 10, version 1909

Headset Microphones Do Not Have Programmatically Detectable Microphone Mute from Headset Mute Button

I have a couple of gaming headsets both with a mute button. If I go into Windows 10 Sound Manager I can see the headset speakers and microphone and all have a mute checkbox.

I have written a program in C++ that allows me to mute or un-mute the microphone as seen in the Sound Manager and the checkbox is turned on and off successfully coinciding with my C++ program settings.

This setting is overriding the Mute button on the headset and I can see no way to detect the user muting the microphone via the headset's mute button. I am trying to incorporate into an application for the
Visually Impaired or Totally Blind the ability to play a unique sound effect into the headset speakers that would tell the user if the microphone is muted or un-muted when they press the headset's mute button.

I already know that this behavior is "By Design" as of Windows Vista.

Question 1: When Direct-x was retired, why wasn't the ability to have separate volume and mute controls for each device considered in the new Vista design? The decision was apparently made to push that
functionality to become the device driver's responsibility, who's volume and mute properties are not accessible programmatically.

I have a Dell Computer Running Windows 10 1809 with MAXXAUDIOPRO by Waves

I really do miss Direct-X it behaved perfectly for developers.

Please consider adding such functionality to future versions of Windows and to also have as part of the Windows Development Committee a member that represents the Hearing Impaired as well as the Visually Impaired
that will give good input for enhancements to the Ease of Access Technology.
