Windows 10: windows 10 bootrec /rebuildbcd no result

    Hi everyone,


    I had 3 OS on my computer, Windows 10, Windows 8 and Ubuntu. Because I didn't use it anymore, I messed up deleting the partition containing Ubuntu, so now the computer starts in 'grub rescue mode'. What I want to do is recovering the Windows bootloader to have Windows 10 as the main OS.


    Following the instruction found on the Net, I booted into a Win 10 flash drive and tried automatic repair, without any success 'System impossible to repair'. So I moved to the command line and tried in orderbootrec /fixmbr successfull bootrec /fixboot access deniedbootrec /scanos and bootrec /rebuildbcdthat both gave no result after the wait for some minutes message it stopped running without showing anything.


    I checked with diskpart, and both Windows 10 and 8 partitions are present and not damaged.

    bootrec /scanos or bootrec /rebuildbcd not working

    I'm getting an odd issue where if I run either command, they don't run all the way through. bootrec /scanos doesn't tell me how many (if any) installations of Windows were found, and bootrec /rebuildbcd tells me it might take a while, but then quits after
    a few seconds with no other words.

    Might be worth nothing that bootrec /fixboot returned as having denied access.

    Any thoughts?

    bootrec /rebuildbcd errors

    I am in the Windows recovery mode cmdline. After I type bootrec /rebuildbcd and hit 'y' and 'n' accordingly to adjust my boot configs, I get the following error:

    The thread you linked to does not help, using the steps taken in that thread nothing changes.

    After a lot of searching when i boot i now i have the error Windows failed to start File:\Boot\BCD Status: 0xc000000f. However when I try to fix this using methods suggested elsewhere online I get the following results:

    • bootrec /fixmbr
    • The operation completed successfully

    • bootrec /fixboot
    • Element not found

    • bootrec /rebuildbcd
    • Finds 1 identified windows installation however when i click A to add it to the boot list it returns element not found.

    • bootrec /scanos
    • Finds 1 installation of windows and completes successfully
