    Windows 10 Brightness Issue

    Hello
Brightness in my laptop changes automatically, It goes dim then i have to manually change it. I've been facing this problem from past 10-12 days. Since the new windows 10 update came, it is really annoying. I did the adaptive setiings and they are turned off, also The drivers are properly installed. I am using ASUS ZENBOOK UX303UB with Intel HD 520 and nVIDIA GTX 940M

    :)

  3. Unable to change screen brightness after upgrading to Windows 10

    Hi Danny,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being a part of Windows 10.

I understand your concern about changing the brightness on your device after upgrading to Windows 10. We will help you with this issue.

I suggest you to refer to the Microsoft help article for Adjust your monitor's brightness and contrast
on Windows 10 and check if it helps.

Also, I suggest you to connect an external keyboard, try to change the display brightness from different keyboard and check if the issue persists.

This will let us know if the issue is with F11 button on your laptop keyboard.

Hope it helps. Try to change the screen brightness as suggested in the help article and update us with the status of this issue for further assistance.

    Windows 10 Brightness Issue

Probably set for Smart dimming or Auto dimming, depending on what Asus calls it. It would be in the advanced Power settings. Just have to turn it off and also make sure that if there is any software for the Display adapter, that it is not set to allow "Adaptive" Brightness.

What last part? The part that adaptive brightness is in the Advanced Power settings? This is basic windows 101 stuff. It is the same way of changing power properties as it has been since Windows XP.

  8. Windows 10 Brightness Issue

I figured out how to turn it off.
Settings -> Power and Sleep -> Additional Power Settings -> Change Plan Settings -> Change advanced power settings -> Display -> Enable Adaptive Brightness -> OFF.

I was having problems with the adaptive brightness, too.

A lot of people enable it and do not realize that there is a sensor used to check, which is actually the camera if there is one. It actually uses up more battery power if you have it enabled. Also can cause problems when coming back out of S3 sleep state, by the screen not returning to pre-set brightness mode.

  11. Shouldn't be a problem with an application. The steps in my post above will probably fix it. Did for me.

    I did this
Intel HD Graphics Control Panel > Power >On Battery > Disable Display Power Saving Technology.

It did work for me for few days. But I Feel again the same issue has started.

    Windows 10 Brightness Issue

OS-X Sierra is doing the same thing since 10.12, but with the Keyboard back lighting. I have a Early 2015 Macbook Air. Even Linux is having this same issue. I take it that Hibernate is shut down and Fast Start, by going into Command and you have done the following command "powercfg /hibernate off". Even with Hibernate off, I have seen some games that when they use WHQL or Directx, exiting causes the resolution to take a while to change or the screen goes into a dim mode. That has been going on for a long time. I am guessing that the drivers for ACPI that the OEM's and the OS companies are using, the newer code to try and squeeze as much life out of the battery, along with the whole LiON issue of them causing fires, they are made some changes to try and keep the temp of the battery packs down. Especially when they the likes of Apple and other vendors that are making the motherboards smaller to place the flatpack units inside the case to take up all of the empty space.

Again, no because this is a wide spread issue across all Operating Systems because of the issue with LiON Battery packs catching fire from overheating. The ACPI code has been changed and the Kernels updated to be better at monitoring battery temps, so that they do not charge too fast enough to get hot to catch the unit on fire. But also able to allow people to squeeze more battery life out of the battery pack, by making the Kernel for the OS better at handling how it uses the battery power while it is treated as a UPS when plugged in and when on the go as what are now becoming throw away devices with those units that are factory sealed in a way to keep people from opening the units and swapping out the RAM modules or M.2 or Sata drive that would be a SSD on most.

OEM's are getting smarter in selling more throw away devices by the way that they have done what I mentioned above.
