  1. Windows 10 BSOD nvlddmkm.sys

    Specs:

    Dell Precision laptop

    Windows 10 OS

24GB RAM 8GB factory 16GB aftermarket installed a year ago

250 GB M.2 drive aftermarket installed a year ago

    1TB HDD factory

    Intel i7-8850H factory

    integrated Intel UHD 630 graphics

Nvidia Quadro p2000 GPU factory soldered to motherboard

So I was using my laptop last week and all of the sudden I got a graphics card error. Didn't think anything of it and just clicked ok didnt write down the error code because laptop was still working fine. However, performance started to tank when I was modeling in various 3D programs. I figured out my Nvidia graphics card stopped working and indevice manager it showed a problem with the driver with error code 43.

Usually when I have driver errors I uninstall the driver and reinstall. However, this didn't work. I decided to update the graphics manually through the Nvidia website they recently released a driver update. However, during the install I got the BSOD with error SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" with the file name nvlddmkm.sys being the issue. After that windows would not boot, every time it attempted to boot I would get the same bsod and error. I googled it and found a fix saying to delete and replace the file in safe mode. However, the file is not present in my drivers folder.

While in safe mode I gathered all my documents and files. I tried system restore and windows reset but still bsod.

I was prepared however because in my spec sheet I originally stated the computer came factory with a 1tb ssd and windows installed on that drive. When I installed the m.2, I cloned the operating system onto the m.2 and left the os on the HDD as a backup. So this whole time I was using the m.2 os with the HDD used as excess storage which was working great.

Now, I booted using my old HDD and it boots fine. I still get the Nvidia Driver error but I am using my integrated intel graphics. I formatted the m.2 and recloned it and that as well boots fine after. However, on both operating systems I still get the same driver error code 43. If I try to update or reinstall the driver, upon restart the drive will not boot. I have to format and reinstall the operating system for windows to boot.

Now, I do not believe this is a physical graphics card error, as the computer is detecting it.Could it be a problem with the m.2 drive in that it is not writing that nvlddmkm.sys file to the drive upon restart? Or could it be the ram not temporarily storing the file until restart or something? I am not really sure how the issue is being caused but all I know for sure is that that file and/or the driver is the issue.

If anyone has any help please let me know!!

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. wdf01000.sys and ntoskrnl.exe BSOD

    I'm on Windows 10, 64bit

Basically, whenever I try to update my LPC controller through Device Manager, BSOD with WDF_VIOLATION occurs (culprit being wdf01000.sys)

So I try to use the driver verifier to see which driver is causing the BSOD, but then it causes BSOD (cultprit being ntoskrnl.exe)

Have no idea which driver is causing them

    Please help!

    Hi Asellia,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

What driver versions have you tried currently for your graphics?
If it is the newest version, 361.43, try rolling back the drivers.
    Driver Rollback | NVIDIA

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

    1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
    2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
      • Double click the executable to open it
      • Click on the button shown below

    Windows 10 BSOD nvlddmkm.sys [IMG]

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window
