Windows 10: Windows 10 build 10176 has leaked onto the web

i started to dl, then stopped

it is the enterprise version, i am on prox64 and have nokey

Well there's your problem ... NEVER intall a beta of anything on a primary or daily use machine.

Always make sure its a spare machine or set up your primary machine as a dual boot with each OS having its own drive.

I burned through 3 hard drives in the 9 month beta process for win2K

 

oh my gawd ... this is disgusting ....
the person at MS that thought "The Ribbon" was a good idea should be permanently relocated to Gitmo.

 

64 bit OS yet it says only 3.97GB of the 8GB of RAM is available.
If that's not a major bug then what is ??
What are people running 32GB of RAM saying ??

 

I think most people here dont bother with Chinese leaked versions, so you wont get many replies to that question..

 

Well, there was news earlier that 10176 may be the first RTM.

Hopefully we'll get a taste to kick the tires but if not, I can wait for the 29th.

 

The Chinese leaks always have issues. RTM is so close, I'll wait for that or the next official build.

 

Did not work with the version downloaded from mega.nz. The installation wouldn't accept the key. The activation servers were never polled.

This appears to be some sort of frankenbuild based on a Chinese source. (Added an English language pack? Some of the install screens are still in an Asian language. I cannot read, or recognize, Mandarin.)

No key was requested when it was run as an upgrade over Win 8.1 Pro. Maybe it didn't activate because of the different license types (Pro vs. Enterprise.)

Back to 10166 for me. If a real US English 10176 escapes into the wild, I may try it.

 

I will wait until the insider program releases it. otherwise, i can wait until the 29th.

So far no problems with the installation. All installation screens in English.

I do not see the version on my desktop - bottom right corner. Is this how it is with Enterprise?

Also, how is it possible to have the same Theme after a clean installation on an unallocated SSD?!

 

Yeah, it's a Frankenbuild based off the Chinese leak. It also uses different activation keys from the Insider Preview builds, because it's apparently an RTM Escrow build.

I'm downloading it, probably won't install it though. We'll see how bored I get between now and the next build/RTM.

 

Definitely somebody's 'homebrew'.

 

I wonder if the ei.cfg trick still works to install different versions. Has anyone checked that yet?

I'll wait until WD ("White Death") uploads it on to one of the more well known torrent sites -- WD is OK for this type of stuff and once it gets a few seeds download speed is always MILES quicker than a heavily overloaded "Megaload" type of site which is always trying to flog you stuff.

No probs though if you install it in a VM for testing. Remember both HYPER-V and VMWARE Player are FREE. VMWARE also works on Linux hosts too.
