Windows 10: Windows 10 Build 1074 Pro 64 Bit Defauly Security

If you guys think that Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall are enough protection, you had better think Twice. I was dumb enough to install Daemon Tools Ultra DVD Trial, It also came with about a dozen malware apps that took me a good hour to remove. Once I did that I downloaded MBAM and it found 297 Malware nasties. I am done with using Defender and am Going back to Avast AIS. It would have stopped the download. Just an FYI.

Reviving old thread to say that the same problem happens in the following Windows 10 versions and there's no exact way to reproduce it:

1) Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Build 16299

2) Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Build 17046

Home Group - No, it was not set up, and it is not our intention to set up one, computers were connectec through a workgroup that was set up, but no Home Group.

alla pc are connected to the same workgroup

Daemon Tools have been a problem long time now.

 

When in doubt it's always good to have malware bytes installed to keep that from happening.

 

I remember when Daemon Tools was the go-to ISO product, things have certainly changed!

 

There are better products like Alcohol 52% (free) and Alcohol 120% payed option.

 

I haven't used any of those in ages. I think my sequence was Daemon Tools -> Alcohol 120% -> Nero.
Now it's just the free Windows Disc Image Burner for burning an ISO to a CD/DVD and Slysoft's VirtualCloneDrive to mount ISOs as a virtual CD-ROM (I guess I don't need to do that with Windows 8 anymore?).

With most things being on USB these days, a combination of EasyBCD, Easy USB Creator, and Rufus does the trick.

 

There are other formats than ISO that windows can't mount.

 

I may be wrong, but I believe Daemon tools does not install Malware. It installs Adware, or Potentially Unwanted Programs. Malware is defined as Malicious software. Adware is just annoying.

Defender doesn't protect from Adware, but it does protect from Malware.

 

Malware and PUPs are not a problem of Deamon tools only but Deamon tools themselves sometime wreck havoc with windows and mz screw up BOOT big time.
