    f14tomcat thank you very much for the direction on this. I tried the update one more time with my 3rd party AV disabled and it failed again so I made the decision to take the route you outlined above. I did a clean install of the Win 10 RTM AU that I downloaded the ISO and burned. Did a clean install of it this morning and all is well. Actually it worked out in a number of ways since I tend to be a application "hoarder" and don't tend to get rid of one once I have it. Always think I will somehow need it again so it was good to clean house which forces me to determine what I really need loaded.

    So again thank you for your great direction on this and I should be good to go for my class and studies with a stable OS.
