Windows 10: Windows 10 calculator does not honor multiplication before addition

Dear all,


I tried a simple calculation in my Windows 10 calculator:


5000 + 10000 * 0.45


expecting the result of 9500. Instead I got 6750...


Apparently the calculator is left-associative and ignores basic math rules. Frankly, I'm a little bit flabbergasted -- this should not be the case! For an example how to do it correctly, take a look at the built-in calculator of Google Search.

windows 10 calculator app opens by itself multiple times

I would suggest you to open task manager and check if you are able to see multiple calculator running. Right click on the task bar and click on task manager and check the status.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Window's 10 Calculator won't launch

Hi Dan,

There could be a number of factors as to why you are having issues launching the Calculator app on Windows 10. This could be caused by a software conflict or due to the application itself.

You may consider resetting the Calculator app. To do this, refer to the steps below:

• Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & feature.
  
• Click the Calculator app from the list and then choose Advanced options.
  
• Click Reset.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you create a new user account. This is for us to check if the issue is due to a corrupted user profile. To do this, select the Start button, then select
Settings > Accounts > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC.
