Windows 10: Windows 10 camera does not record audio

I had the problem where the Windows 10 camera app was only recording 1 second. I "fixed" it running the powershell commands in this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/apps_windows_10-camera/windows-10-camera-app-only-records-1-second-video/1c7a97c6-a3bc-41ed-b640-ad26ff5a9352

Now the app recors videos longer than 1 second, but with NO audio...! I checked all the obvious things camera app has access to microphone, microphone works, Widows audio recorder can record audio etc... and I cannot find a solution.

We suggest that you run troubleshooting for Audio Recording by following these steps:

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

From what you have mentioned, I would suggest you to try these steps to see if it resolves the issue

Method 1: Hardware Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with recording. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your recording.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select
  Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel
• Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter

I suggest you to install all the latest audio and Display drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.

Camera not recording audio in Windows 10

• Which application are you using to record the Video?
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?
  
• Were you able to get the audio working earlier?
  
• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer
  Which version of Windows operating system am I running?
