Windows 10: Windows 10 Camera not working

My camera works intermittently.


I have a Lenova Yoga 730 that was purchased about 15 months ago. The camera worked fine until about a month ago. I opened it one day and it didn't work. Black and white camera symbol with a slash through it.


I tried the Camera privacy settings, turning off and on.

Device manager- checked for updated driver = current. Roll back drive. Uninstall device and search for new device.

Several restarts between these actions.

McAfee security - turn off firewall


Nothing worked so I tried to take it to a local repair shop. As soon as I got in the building, the camera was working again.


I took it home and it worked for a few more weeks. Then it stopped working again. Tried all of the above with the exception of stopping the McAfee real-time scans too on top of the firewall this time. After I disabled the firewall and real-time scans on McAfee, I then deleted the camera in device manager and scanned for new hardware. This time when I opened camera app, it worked for about 5 seconds and returned to the black and white camera symbol with a slash through it. McAfee scanning/firewall was still turned off.

Haier camera is not working in windows 10

• What is the make and model of the computer?
• What is the model of the Camera?
• Did you make any changes prior to this issue?
• Which app/website are you using to access camera?

It could be due to incorrect settings or missing/corrupt drivers or missing updates.

camera not working

If you have the camera connected to the computer, I would suggest that you disconnect the camera and then try to open the Camera app.



If the camera app opens, follow the steps below:

• Press “Windows key + C” from your keyboard to open “Charms bar”.
• Select “Settings” option.
• Select “Permissions” option.
• Turn on “Allow this app to access your: Webcam and Microphone” option.
• Lose the app by pressing “Alt key + F4” from your keyboard.
• Reopen the Camera app.
• Connect your camera and then check how this app works.

Windows 10 camera Not Working

• Which are the apps you cannot uninstall?
• Which are the apps you cannot stop?

For the Camera app issue, I suggest you to uninstall the apps which came inbuilt with Windows 10 using Windows Powershell and reinstall using Windows Store. Follow the below steps:

• Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the
  search bar.
• Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to reinstall the Camera app.
  

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.WindowsCamera* | remove-appxpackage



After performing the above steps, install the Camera app form the Windows Store.
