USB clean install -- around 10 mins on an SSD or about 15 if installing on to a conventional HDD. Note also that very slow system performance can be due to POOR HDD's -- BAD I/O is usually overlooked in performance related problems --I've often seen people spending a lot of dosh in adding a load more RAM or even upgrading the processor when simply changing the HDD's would be far more effective (and cost effective too).

Lack of RAM is rarely a problem these days and even a fairly "slow" processor is enough for what typical users want to do on their systems -- however slow cheap HDD's (especially those with almost ZERO cache or really cheap and nasty early model laptop drives) will slow ANY system --even with an i7 processor.

The best performance you can get is to replace where possible HDD's (certainly for the OS disk) with SSD's -- and at least swap IDE HDD's for SATA one's where possible.
