Windows 10: Windows 10 can only detect laptop microphone

Windows is not detecting the microphone of headphones on my laptop, I'm using a TRRS jack.It used to work recently until I had to reinstall windows so it's probably a driver issue, although I have already installed the Realtek drivers.In the sound control panel, it only shows Micrphone the one built in my laptop and Stereo mix.Interestingly, It doesn't show my headphones as well but it works if I plug it in. It just shows the speakers of my laptop. I don't know if that will help with finding the issue.

Microphone on Headphones Not Detected (Windows 10)

I gave you many steps to force the headset microphone to show up. They would take more than an hour to perform, plus the way a forums works is interactively so we don't just give up after the first post but use feedback about your results to suggest more
steps.

Microphone not detected

I've run it, it says the problem was 'Generic audio driver'. But I don't actually feel any problems on playing audios. My problem was about external microphones not detected, this laptop wont detect any external microphones
plugged in, it will always use the internal microphone. I've done the troubleshoot (recording audio) and the troubleshoot said they can't detect the problem.

 

Windows 10 microphone not detected

Perhaps a simple microphone solution; it worked for my HP laptop running Windows 10 [after tearing my hair out for hours and trying all the fixes i found on the internet, to no avail]:

Click the [Start Button]
Click on/select [All apps]
Scroll down and click on [Settings]
In upper right search box [i.e., Find a setting], type in "microphone"
Click on/select [Microphone privacy settings]
Turn on [Let apps use my microphone]

VOILA! a working external mic
