  1. Windows 10 - Can the touchpad be automatically enabled after the mouse is disconnected?

Hello,Recently at work I needed to move my laptop in a hurry, so I didn't take anything, but then I found out that my touchpad was disabled. Of course, you can re-enable it in the settings with just the keyboard, but I couldn't figure it out at the time, so it was easier for me to go back for the mouse. Is it possible to enable touchap automatically? If not, it would be a good idea to add this feature to Windows. Please help,Thank you

    :)

    Touchpad

    Hi Denise,

To address your concern, we suggest that you check if the touchpad is enabled in Mouse Properties.

Please follow these steps below to check the status of the touchpad.

    • Click Start and choose Settings.
    • Click on Devices. Choose Mouse & touchpad. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click
      Additional mouse options.
    • The Mouse Properties window will open. Click the tab furthest to the right (ELAN
      or Device Settings).
    • Under Devices, check if your touchpad is disabled. If it is disabled, click the touchpad to select it and then click
      Enable.

Let us know how it goes.

  3. Mouse device is enabled instead of Touchpad option on Windows 10.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will assist you in resolving the issue.

From the above description, I understand the mouse device option is enabled instead of touchpad and you would like to enable the latter option on the computer.

You can enable the touchpad option from Control panel under
Mouse option. Control panel contains settings of all the system device installed on the computer.

To enable the touchpad option on the computer, follow the steps below and check if the changes are effective.

    • Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
Control panel from the context menu.
    • From the top right corner of the screen click on
      View by
      and select Large icons
    • Click on Mouse option from the window.
    • Click on Device settings tab on the
Mouse properties screen, check if the Disable button to turn off the touchpad option is buttoned. If yes, unbutton the option and check if the touchpad is enabled on the device.

Write to us with the status of the issue on the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.

  4. Windows 10 - Can the touchpad be automatically enabled after the mouse is disconnected?

Windows 11 - Touchpad not working when mouse is disconnected

I configured the touchpad to be disabled when mouse is connected (touchpad is still enabled).

However, when I disconnect my Logitech wireless mouse (either turn off mouse or unplug usb receiver), the touchpad does not enable. I have to disable that option in order to use touchpad.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
