Windows 10: Windows 10 cancelled a change in permissions and is stuck

I mistakenly tried the following fix to my permissions in order to allow google earth to install on my computer.


1. Open File Explorer press Windows logo + E, navigate to This PC > Local Disk C: > Users >Select

your User profile.

2. Right click on your User profile and select Properties.

3. Click the Security tab, under Group or user names menu, select your user name and click on Edit.

4. Click on Full control check box under Permissions for authenticated users and click on Apply and OK.

5. Select Advanced under Security tab.

6. Select your User profile under Permission entries and check on Edit, customize the permissions level and

click OK.

7. Check the option Replace all child object permissions entries with inheritable permission entries from

this object.

8. Click on Apply and OK to save changes and check if the issue is resolved.....


Unfortunately, the process was aborted and got stuck in a cancellation process.

Here is the screenshot. Is it safe to stop this process using task manager or restarting my computer. I'm concerned and any help is greatly appreciated.

Windows 10 permissions...

How is the NAS on windows 10 Pro? Is it software or a share? Did you check ntfs vs share permissions?

Ok so I feel officially dumb I am trying to copy my steam library to my NAS. Both are on windows 10 pro and both have full control in the file manager. Neither windows nor fast copy will allow me to copy, both list a permissions error? This was never an issue with windows 7...so first off thank you microsoft god forbid I want to back up my data, second off what the heck do I need to do to make this work. All I could fine online was to set full control and that obviously didn't help.

Also robocopy doesn't apparently work with network locations?

 

Restore Security Permissions

I understand that you have cancelled the security permissions while setting it to folders and you are trying to restore back. We will help you.

• Which folder are you trying to set the permissions?
• What are you referring to " files is affected "?

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Open the file explorer and select the destination folder
  for which you wanted to revert back the permission changes.
• Right click on the folder. Select the Previous versions
  tab.
• Select the previous version in the below list and click
  apply.
• Check if the issue persists.
