Windows 10: Windows 10 Can't Connect to Printer

For whatever reason, once again, Windows is falling all over itself with the simplest of tasks, wasting my time, and distracting me from my work. It's a printer - should take all of 30 seconds to connect. My Apple computer saw the printer, connected, done. Try connecting a printer to Windows and you'll end up in this round-and-round loop of installing excessively large, bloated, drivers HP, flipping fires-walls on and off, restarting Windows multiple times, searching the internet, and reading incredibly long troubleshooting tips to install your printer.

Have you tried the suggestions on my initial post, in response to the original poster? If you haven't performed any troubleshooting yet, here are a couple of things you can try:

• Power off, and then power on your printer to restart it. Wait for a while for it to be fully ready.
• Check your printer connection. Check your printer and make sure that it’s connected to your PC network.

If the steps didn't help, you may go through this list of suggestions to fix printer connection in Windows 10.

First, I would suggest installing the actual driver package from Brother. While the printer may work with the fairly generic drivers that come with Windows 10, I've always found that I get better results from the actual Brother drivers.

I have a rather old Brother printer so the exact steps may be a bit different from yours, but in my case when I install the drivers it will search the network for available printers and allow me to specify the printer that it finds. If it does not find a printer, it may ask you to initially setup the printer via a direct connection (USB), and then configure the printer for network use (WiFi).

In any case, the installation wizard should guide you through the steps.
