Windows 10: Windows 10 can't see optical drive

Installed LG GH22NS50 in Win 10 machine.


Drive is:

Detected in BIOS.

Detected and shown in Device Manager.

Drive opens and closes.


Drive is NOT visible in Explorer.

Inserting disc makes Explorer freeze until disc is removed.


I have attempted ALL solutions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/314060/your-cd-or-dvd-drive-is-not-recognized-by-windows-or-other-programs

(In Method 4, I do not have channels - only the controller itself, which I uninstalled)

(In Method 5, I have no upper or lower limits)


I would upgrade the firmware, but the instructions from LG specifically state drive must be visible in Explorer before attempting this.


Any ideas?


EDIT: In Disk Management, I can see that it has drive letter D: assigned.

Optical Drive missing

Hello,

To find Optical Drive, we recommend checking it on Device Manager. Here are the steps below:

• Press Windows key.
• Type and click Device Manager in Cortana search box.
• Click View.
• Select Show hidden devices.

Boot into BIOS/UEFI and check that the Optical drive is listed there, if it is not then the Acer Tech has somehow not connected that drive correctly . . .

Otherwise, in Windows , open Device Manager - is hat drive listed at the top of the Hardware list?

 

my windows 10 oem didn't come with a product key

Dude, go to Newegg right now and read the questions and answers tab on Windows 10 OEM. The OEM copies that are listed there DO in fact, come on an optical disc. The flash drive ONLY comes on Retail copies.
