Windows 10: Windows 10 CD/DVD drive is apparently useless to open and use any disks...

In Windows 10 with UEFI why can't I put CD/DVD Disk in the drive and then the system will open the disk? So why is this?


Or what do I have to do to make this happen? Surely there must be a method or way. Thanks for your help. Loy Banks 80 years

• When you say, “how do I open the cd/dvd disk drive on the back” are you not able to open the drive to enter a disk or trying to replace the drive?
  
• What is the exact model number of the HP Envy PC that you are using? To check type:
  msinfo32 in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

If the CD/DVD drive is not getting detected on the computer, I would suggest you to refer the steps mentioned in the HP article

If you are unable to burn CD/DVD using the drive, I suggest you to refer the steps mentioned in the HP article

CD/DVD drive (E will not open, it is detected

I suggest you to update the drivers for CD/DVD drive by following the steps below and check if the issue persists.

• Press Windows key + R and select Device Manager from the list.
• Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives.
• Right click on the driver and select update driver software.
• Follow the on-screen prompts and to update the driver.

DVD/CD Drive Saying CD-Rom

My Dvd drive is listed in my device manager however it is set as cd rom in the description, it also wont open and is not set as my default drive, any suggestions?

windows 10 if that changes anything
