Windows 10 Changes Security Settings for Folder

    Hello,

Bear with me please, as I to explain this as best possible. I have several drives. My operating System is on the C drive and it has the folder "Program Files" on it. Another drive I have is R drive, I created a directory at the root called "Program Files" in there. I have had this directory since Windows 7 before the free upgrade to Windows 10. And in Windows 10 it has been running fine for ages, until I updated it around Christmas I think?.

Problem now is that every time I reboot the PC Windows creates the directory "ModifiableWindowsApps" inside the "R:\Program Files" and it alters the security settings in it. So now I my applications inside it do not work correctly and I can no longer copy stuff to it without it giving me a pop up message requiring Administrator access. I have to alter back on every reboot security rights.

I do not want windows to alter my "R:\Program Files" security. I do not want it to place "ModifiableWindowsApps" in the "R:\Program Files" directory. The directory has nothing to do with the system yet it has appropriated it, and in the process giving me grief.

    Thank you

FYI: There is also a "C:\Program Files\ModifiableWindowsApps" directory.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Windows folder security.

Is there a way to disable ALL windows security on folders? I'm using Windows 7 and trying to replace some system files that may be currupt and I get the "You need permission..." bitching from Windows. I know I can take ownership of the folder through the security tab but it's getting REALLY old having to do this for each and every file and folder I'm trying to overwrite. *Bang Head :banghead:

I'm the administrator for christ sake. If I want to open my drive and take a crap in it, do I need permission from Microsoft?

Change Folder Icon in Windows 10

I just acquired a new laptop running Windows 10 and am trying to change the icons of the folders in the StartUp "Program" folder so that they would stand out a little better. I used my admin account and followed all the steps listed above, but when I clicked on "Apply", nothing happened. The same basic windows folder icon remained attached to the folder. I also tried to go into Properties and capitalize some of the folder names, but that didn't work either. Looks like something is protecting them, but I cannot figure out what it is much less how to get around this blockage, Any suggestions?
