Windows 10: Windows 10 Charger plugged in yet not charging.

Today (5th August 2018), I restarted my laptop and noticed that the charger icon on Windows 10 was going down whilst I had my charger plugged in. When I clicked the icon, it says "Charger plugged in, not charging." I've looked online for loads of possible ways to fix this however I've had no luck. I've uninstalled the battery parts from the Device Manager and restarted my laptop. Yet still no luck. I've even checked if there was a problem with my charger to see if there was something wrong with it. I've had the laptop since February 2017 and I've had no problems with it at all until now. My laptop is Windows 10 and uses ASUS. I'm hoping for someone to help me and fix this.

plugged in, not charging

Thank you all for the quick replies! I started with unplugging the charger from the power strip, then unplugging the cord and finally unplugging it from the laptop (my charger is comprised of two pieces). Checked the connection and plugged the two pieces
back together. I plugged the charger back into the laptop. Turned the laptop on, still wasn't charging. Unplugged the charger from the laptop again without powering in off... plugged it back in and it started charging again!

I'll keep all of your suggestions in case it happens again, especially running a battery report.

Sounds like some software is optimizing when plugged in. This would draw from your CPU causing a frame rate drop. Some programs are designed to only optimize when the laptop is plugged in.

What security software suit are you running? Can you give a list of non-windows processes when plugged in? Give it about 10 minutes plugged in before gathering the list. This will allow any program optimizations to start and bog the CPU.

I don't think there is anything wrong with his Laptop. This smells of a software issue.

 

Laptop charger plugged in but not charging! help! urgent!

Hi! First of all, I can't use my laptop if it's not plugged in and when I plug in the charger then the orange led flashes rather than staying at the same position(green when full charge) but it's not doing that anymore and keeps on flashing. The status of
the battery stays the same. Any idea then please help!
