  1. Windows 10 check disk on reboot -- now black/blank screen?

    Howdy~

I had been having some problems with my laptop for a while, so I went through cleaning files, defragging, etc. and some techy friends of mine suggested a disk check. I believe I typed something like chkdsk C: /f /r /x into the command line and it said that the volumes couldn't be checked because C: was in use; would I like to do a disk check upon restart? Y/N I said yes.

So immediately I restart my laptop and the disk check starts. It gets to stage 4 around 2hr into the check picture below labeled "before". By the time stage 4 is almost done, the ETA is just below 3hr and the total % reads 47.

Once stage 4 is complete, the screen goes black or blank above picture labeled "now". The screen is still on as I can see the slight backlight and the laptop is still on. the hard drive is not making a noise and has not been making any unusual noises lately. The screen has been this way for around 3hr now and I'm not sure what to do. I also can't see a cursor anywhere and have tried moving the mouse. I've tried doing ctrl+alt+del to see if anything would happen and I've clicked around a few times, but nothing has happened.

Is this normal? Should I leave it as is and wait for it to finish whatever it's doing? Should I do a hard reset?

    Thanks in advance.

    :)
