Windows 10: Windows 10 choosing the wrong driver for dvd player

I have downloaded the Windows 10 DVD Player app., thinking this would allow me to play DVDs on my computer in the DVD R/W drive I have installed. It is a Dell product and I downloaded and installed the driver for that particular driver for my DVD drive and Windows won't let me choose that driver for the device, not even when I try to update the driver. Windows 10 chose a cd rom driver and it won't play DVDs on the DVD drive with the DVD app.

What do I need to change to get it to use the correct driver? I didn't have any problem watching movies with this DVD drive on Windows 7 and on other computers I used to have with Windows 10. Has there been some kind of update that is screwing things up on my computer? and if so how do I fix this problem?

Bad driver to DVD-player

My ASUS BW-16D1H DVD-player wont be able to play my old DVD-movies in WIN 10.

The discs will behave fine in a common player ( my TV).

Contacts with ASUS resulted in the answer: "WIN 10 load the wrong driver and you should uninstall that, choose another one from the list"?

I can uninstall but where are the list? WIN 10 just says "CD-rom" and thats all.

Someone have the same trouble?

 

Windows DVD Player FUBAR

In order to assist you better could you please confirm whether you're using the Windows 10 DVD player App or Windows Media Player (DVD).

I suggest you to update the drivers from the Device Manager and see if this helps. Follow the steps below to do the same:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the DVD/CD ROM Drives.
• Right-click on the mentioned drive and click on Properties.
• Go to Drivers Tab and click on Update.
• Restart the computer and check.

DVD Player dont work in Windows 10

Step 1:

a. Type troubleshooting in the search box on taskbar.

b. Click troubleshooting in the search results.

c. Click "View all" and then click "Hardware and Devices".

Step 2: Uninstall and reinstall the driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the DVD drive drivers check if it works for you.
Follow the steps to uninstall the DVD drive drivers:

• Right-click on the DVD drive listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.
