    Windows 10 Clock will no longer keep time after waking from sleep mode


    I have a strange issue. I've already replaced the CMOS battery and made sure to update to the latest BIOS on my desktop PC, but the problem doesn't seem to be hardware related since the BIOS keeps time just fine.


    If I reboot or turn windows on from a shut down then it keeps track of time fine. The problem ONLY occurs if I put the PC to sleep. Once I wake it, it will forever keep losing several minutes every hour which breaks some things like time tracking software until I reboot it. Once I reboot, then it works fine again.


    I've tried everything here https://mashtips.com/fix-time-not-updating-syncing-windows10/ and it doesn't matter how many times I resync the clock, it will keep losing time until I reboot. I've also tried shutting down as much running processes as I can but that didn't make any changes either. I've tried both High Performance and Ultimate Performance in Windows' power settings.

    For us to narrow down your concern with waking up your computer from sleep mode, we would like to know the following:

    • Aside from Windows Update. were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue?
    • Is this the first time you experienced the issue?
    • To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Send us a screenshot of your screen when you wake up your computer from sleep mode.

    Problem: about 80% of the time, my laptop won't wake up from sleep mode via keyboard press or mouse move/click. I seem to be missing many common features in power plan too, even after fresh Windows 10 install.

    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. Reinstalled Windows 10 (clean)
    2. Updated all drivers
    3. Replicated on multiple Windows 10 versions, updates
    4. BIOS latest version
    5. No USB devices attached, ever. Only USB-C power and bluetooth mouse
    6. Disabled "fast startup" in control panel

    yes, it was already off.

    its waking up one hour after it sleeps for about 2 minutes, then sleeping again. How the eff can i track what it does in that time if nothing shows in powerCFG or the event log?
