Windows 10: Windows 10 Codepage 1252 not working

I recently installed Windows 10 Enterprise on a new computer and since then have the following problems:

1. Filenames containing Umlauts äüö, which have been copied from other computers, are not displayed properly in Explorer: . After renaming the files on the computer, the names are displayed correctly.
2. Textfiles containing Umlauts are also not displayed correctly in notepad: . These files have also been written on other computers. If I create the file with the same content on the new computer, they are displayed correctly.

For case 2, I was able to find the reason: the files from other computers have been saved with Codepage 1252 encoding, while the file on the new computer was saved with UTF-8 encoding. If I enforce Codepage 1252 encoding using Visual Studio on the new computer, they are displayed incorrectly again.


I have never encountered a similar problem on any computer.


How could I fix this?

Is the sharp AL-1252 printer compatible with windows 10

I have an old Sharp AL-1252 Laser Printer - is this compatible in any form with Windows 10?

If not have you a suggestion what driver I can try.

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
