  1. Windows 10 compatibility with 1st Gen. Core i5 on Gigabyte P55 Chipset

    Hi everyone!

So I've used my old Motherboard+CPU to build a gaming PC for my kid brother, combined with a new Video Card.

    The specs are as follows:
    - Core i5 760 OC@3.8GHz
    - 16GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX
    - Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5 Motherboard
    - ASUS GTX 1060 Video Card

I installed Windows 10 and everything *seems* to be working so far, however the latest drivers on the official Gigabyte website for my old Motherboard are for Windows 7 and are not compatible with Windows 10. To clarify, I am referring to the following drivers: Chipset, LAN, Audio, G-SATA.

Windows 10 seems to have installed some of its own generic "Legacy Drivers", however I'm wondering if these drivers are enough, or do I still need to endeavor to find specific drivers for my old hardware that will be compatible with Windows 10, and if so where can I find some?

What issues can I expect if I just leave it as it is to work with these generic "Legacy Drivers"... ?

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 1703 Bugs

Ofcourse it is compatible. It is only 7 months old laptop with 7th gen I5 processor(7200U) and 8GB DDR4 ram and 1TB HDD. It is HP Pavilion 15 AU114TX.

I installed windows 10 creators update in a dell inspiron n5010 with 1st gen I5 processor and 4GB DDR3 ram which is nearly 7 or 8 years old.

So it will never be a compatibility issue.

  3. Is it possible to run Windows 10 on Gen 2 Core i5-2400 processor?

Even I have a PC with Intel Second Generation Core i5 2320 which is not compatible, so don't take risk. Instead purchased a new PC which could run Windows 10. Please buy a slot which comes only in Gigabyte 100 series motherboard with LGA 1151 Socket and
DDR3 Ram Slot and Intel Sixth Generation Core i5 6400 to solve the problem.

Windows 10 compatibility with 1st Gen. Core i5 on Gigabyte P55 Chipset

My mobo is also Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 probably a similar generation as yours. See my system specs. I am having problems with the GSATA port and you can see my post here:
GSATA Problems on Windows 10 Gigabyte Mobo
I had no problems with the chipset drivers loaded with Windows 10 or the LAN (Ethernet) drivers. For the Realtek audio, I loaded the updated win10 drivers from Realtek and they are perfect. See the link I provided in this post if you have a compatible Realtek audio chip:
    Uninstall Realtek and install AMD?
    I hope this helps.

I had an older intel DP55KG motherboard, also a P55 board. I used the win7 drivers on win10 with no problem for the things that didn't have win10 drivers (for instance, the chipset drivers).

  6. We can't answer your question. You have to use the system and find out. If the audio, for example, works fine, then your fine with those drivers. If there's an issue, then you should try going to that component's manufacturer and look for drivers.

Just to follow up, I solved my GSATA problems using the latest driver from the Gigabyte website for my motherboard. This driver is from JMicron and is stated as valid thru Windows 7 but worked for me on Windows 10. I installed it via the device manager rather then using the setup file so I cant say if using the setup file will work on Windows 10 or not. The GSATA driver that was installed by Windows 10 had serious problems. Hope this helps.
