    Windows 10 computer exits sleep mode on its own


    Hello,


    About a month ago, two completely unrelated Windows 10 desktop computers that I use (my personnal one at home and my profesionnal one at work) started to exit sleep mode on their own in the middle of the night, with no apparent reason.


    I know that sometimes, Windows 10 decides to restart while in sleep mode to apply an update (a behaviour that I hate because, if I let my computer in sleep mode, it means that there are things open that I don't want to close, and a restart closes them all, plus let my computer on since I did not put a time limit for the computer to go back to sleep), but it happens almost every night and is not related to any update.


    A few years ago, I had this issue with laptops and never found a fix. So what can I do to ensure that when I put my computer in sleep mode, it stays in sleep mode and do not turn back on randomly ?

    Pc restart after exiting sleep mode

    well if it works within 5min, sounds like it could be losing power

    'restarts after exiting sleep mode' do you mean it acts like a fresh cold boot? or you see the windows logging off screens, then it restarts?

    i never use sleep or hibernate, risk of losing the session & waste of hard drive space

    Hi Ron,

    Thank you for responding.

    I suggest you to try the below steps to exit from the Safe mode on Windows 10.

    Steps to place the computer in normal mode.

    • Press Windows + R keys to open
      Run command.
    • Type msconfig and press
      Enter.
    • In the System Configuration window, click on
      General tab.
    • Select Start-up selection as
      Normal startup, click on Apply
      and Ok.
    • Follow onscreen instructions.

    The challenge that you are having with the sleep mode on Windows 10 may be caused by misconfigured power settings on your computer. We suggest to check this thread:

    Win 10 reboots after sleep mode    . Look for MVP Mike Hall... always replied. It contains troubleshooting steps pertaining to the issue.
