  1. Windows 10 Computer goes from sluggish to normal speed on desktop.

Just recently I have noticed while on Windows 10 desktop the computer “speed” seems to fluctuate. One minute it takes a while(taking multiple seconds compared to almost instantly like normal) to access any windows features such as settings, folders etc ad the next second it runs fine. Once a window or folder opens it will be delayed when I try to access things but then the next minute it’s running fine)

Even opening chrome or explorer will be okay opening but moving the windows will freeze and then be fine. Even steam will open but be delayed on accessing different windows within. It’s also affected gameplay, most recently tropico 6, by dropping FPS for a second then going back to normal.

It’s like a stutter if that makes sense.

Task manager isn’t showing complete ram, cpu, gpu usage. Ram and cpu usage does fluctuate a bit. I don’t have a lot of programs open on start up.

I ran defender and malware bytes and that’s fine.

I7-6700k OC to 4.5 Ranger VII board RTX 2080 super 16 gb ram 250 gb ssd with windows 1tb ssd with files (mostly games) 1 tb HDD (mostly empty just random programs)

  2. Sluggish WiFi Speeds on Desktop

Two weeks ago I bought a TP-Link Archer C8 router and an Etekcity AC1200 USB for my Windows 10 desktop. We have a few devices in the house (phones, tablets, and a laptop) and the router and USB worked perfectly until yesterday. I lost
connection on the router to all devices (still don't know why) and after a bit of troubleshooting and trial and error, I was able to get all of the devices connected except for my desktop.

The desktop currently fluctuates between slow internet connectivity (speed test says 4mbs for download) to just dropping and disconnecting altogether. I'm at a loss as to how to troubleshoot this beyond the normal steps that should
be taken (power cycling router and modem, updating desktop drivers, etc). I'm beginning to think it has to be the USB, since at one point I've connected the desktop by Ethernet with great connection, and the computer seems to be connecting to the router, just
with no or little internet speeds. Prior to these shenanigans I was getting anywhere from 70 - 90 mbs according to speed test, and now i'm lucky to get 10 mbs. Do you have any tips or things I should try in order to get my gaming back on track?

  3. Sluggish WiFi Speeds on Desktop

Unfortunately, the steps in the link didn't work.

    • I have a TP-Link Archer C8
    • I have Norton Antivirus; I tried disabling both the firewall and anti virus and no luck. My wife's laptop has the same version of Anti virus and no noticable difference in her Internet speeds. Hers also runs Windows 10.
    • I've tried multiple browsers and various video games, but they're all slow. Speed Test is also saying i'm hovering betrween 4 - 9 mbs.
    • Everything's been cleared out.
The USB i have is an Etekcity AC1200 USB

I can provide any information you need;,

    Sluggish WiFi Speeds on Desktop

    Hi,

As per the description, I understand that the desktop has slow internet connectivity compared to other devices.

I appreciate if you could answer to a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    • What is the make and model of the device?
    • Did you install any third party security application?
    • Did you try browsing from a different browser?
    • Did you try clearing the caches and history?
As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to refer to the article provided below and check if that helps.
