Windows 10: Windows 10 - connecting to a second monitor

When I connect my TV to my laptop via HDMI cable I have to go through several steps before my computer detects and connects. When I disconnect and reconnect I have to go through all the same steps again. Simply using F4 doesn't work nor does pressing the Windows key + P.

Is there a way to set up my laptop so it automatically detects the TV (2nd monitor) after connecting the cable?

I would suggest you to download the display driver from the manufacturer's website. If there are no driver for windows 10, download the latest driver and install it in compatibility mode by following the steps below:

After you have downloaded the driver:



a) Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select "Properties".

b) Select "Compatibility" Tab.

c) Place a check mark next to "Run this program in Compatibility mode" and select the

appropriate operating system from the drop down list.

d) Let the driver install and then check the functionality

  What happens when you try to connect the second monitor?

  Do you receive any error code/message?
  
• 
  Have you tried to connect the second monitor on a different port?
  

I suggest you to connect second display using a different port available on your PC and check if the second display works. If second display works in other port, then the possible cause for this issue may be discrete video card driver.


Let us try the following steps, and check it helps.

Step 1: Run the Hardware and Devices
troubleshooter.

Hardware and Devices troubleshooter checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.
