    Windows 10 Core Isolation Memory Integrity Causes Blue Screen if any Optical Drive is Enabled


    I have recently built a full tower powerhouse desktop after 25 years of being out of that game. It works great with the latest 20H2 Windows 10.

    Except for one thing: if I turn on memory integrity to help with core isolation security, the OS will blue screen if I leave any optical drive enabled on reboot.

    When I checked the drivers for the two optical drives that I have tried, both of these drivers are circa 2006, written by Microsoft directly. Initially, when I attempted to activate memory integrity I would receive an error that my driver called pxhlpa64.sys was incompatible with memory integrity.

    I have attempted to use Windows Update and search for new drivers on Google and Bing etc. There are no newer drivers than those that windows automatically picks up from 2006.

    If I rename the driver, then memory integrity works great, but each optical drive that I've tried then fails to work.

    Are there any newer optical drive drivers than 2006? Ones that support memory integrity?

    Cannot Turn On Core Isolation Memory Integrity in Settings

    From Tutorial -> Turn On or Off Core Isolation Memory Integrity in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials

    Not able to perform steps in Option 1
    Under "Windows Defender Security Center", "Device Security" is not an option.
    Winver reports Version 1709 (OS build 16299 402)
    The processor is Intel I3
    Virtualization is enabled in system BIOS.


    Please advise.
