    windows 10 crash x: drive

Good day, I don't know which year you'll be reading this but I was able to fix this issue, no thanks to microsoft community. So after combing through each reply from one section to another without any possible fix in sight for 2days; give or take. I had two options; a clean format or fiX it. As windows reset wasn't even working and I can't also reset or format because of my files so I had to take the bull by the horn and try.

So how and what did I do to fix this:

From the X:\ type notepad and hit enter.

It will open the normal windows notepad window after that click on file and open file. It will take you to your normal file manager where you'll able to see what drive letter your c:\ drive was changed to, mine was D:. Click on your drivemine was d: and you'll see your normal system folders along with windows and users folder. Click on windows folder and locate system32 folder

so basically you'll navigate to d:\windows\system32\cmd - the drive letter might be different - mine was d:, I had no partition so I'm guessing that's why it's d:,

click on it and scroll down till u find cmd. Right click and run as administrator.

It will open a command prompt window. Then run "chkdsk /r" without the quote obviously and wait till it finishes replacing bad sectors. Then close the prompt and restart your pc. Your system will not start the "preparing automatic repair" and boot u to windows.

PS: the chkdsk /r takes a really long time to finish and it has above 4 stages. Also don't do anything wen it seems like it's no long processing u can press enter key but don't do more than that.

Dual Booting 2 x Windows 10 OS Drives (Existing Installs)

It is uneccessary to do all of the above.
    1. Boot up Windows 10
    2. Open Disk Management and take a note of the drive letter of the other Windows 10
    3. Open Admin Command Prompt and type: bcdboot X:\Windows where X is the drive letter noted in step 2
    4. Reboot, you should have a dual boot menu.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    all games crash!

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
