Windows 10: Windows 10 crashes on going to sleep

Windows 10 x64 ; older desktop with up-to-date patches

Since about mid Nov 2019 this system has been crashing on entering sleep mode. Nice feature of upgrading to Windows 10 was "sleep" finally worked. Until now. I have about 10 minidumps starting from that time, altho there have been more crashes than that, & I finally turned sleep off. I'd like to get sleep working again because it noticeably saves electric rate $.


I've looked thru various threads here & elsewhere & done some of the fiddling and checking with power, no joy. I tried the driver verify tool - that is hairy - wound up in a boot loop, so it may well be there is a non-MS driver cause I had the MS drivers all turned off in verify, & as far as I can tell all of them are up to date.


I tried looking at a few of these minidumps with Windbg, here's a partial:

Does this mean "iaStorA" is the problem, or just some event that failed while everything crashed? This is where my limited knowledge of this architecture stops - I don't see how iaStorA is relevant to it & where it's being used.

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Windows 10 laptop doesn't go to sleep when wifi is on

Method 2: I suggest you to run in-built Power troubleshooter and check. Follow the steps:

Method 3: If the above method doesn’t help, I would suggest you to reset and restore all of the default Power Plans back with their default settings. Follow the steps.

Method 4: Lastly I suggest you check your chipset and video drivers, try checking for the updates from the manufacturer's website and update all the necessary drivers, i.e the chipset and video drivers

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
