  2. Windows Restarting without any warning... Event ID 41 and 142

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

About your computer always restarting unexpectedly without reporting errors.

    • Event ID 41: This is known as the "Kernel-Power" event. It's logged when your system reboots without cleanly shutting down first. This can be caused by power loss, hardware failures, driver issues, or other problems that prevent Windows from shutting down properly.
    • Event ID 142: This is usually related to the "Kernel-Boot" event and often indicates issues related to hardware or firmware that occur during the boot process.

Given these clues, here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Power Supply: Ensure your power supply is functioning correctly. Inconsistent or inadequate power supply can cause unexpected restarts.
    2. Drivers: Update all drivers, especially chipset, graphics, and network drivers. Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause stability issues.
    3. BIOS/UEFI Firmware: Check for BIOS/UEFI firmware updates from your motherboard manufacturer. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues.
    4. And you may Perform a clean boot (microsoft.com) to see if it is normal, this is a troubleshooting step. In this mode, we can further confirmed whether it is caused by system problems or third-party software or personalized Settings. So please be patient.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get you back on track.
The following two links are the official explanations and solutions for these two events:

If something is unclear or I can't understand your problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

    Best wishes

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In-order to get more clarity on this issue and to assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, reply with answers to the below questions:

    1. Are you aware of any changes made on your PC, prior to this issue?
    2. Is this issue specific while playing a particular game?
    3. Which edition of Windows are you currently using?

A Kernel Power Event 41 can occur in the following scenarios.

Scenario 1: The computer restarts, and there is a Stop error BugcheckCode in the event data.

Scenario 2: The computer is shut down by pressing and holding the power button.

Scenario 3: The system randomly restarts and no Stop error BugcheckCode is listed, or the computer is completely unresponsive (hard hang).

I suggest you refer the article on Kernel
