Windows 10: Windows 10 Creators Update coming April 11th 2017

I think though that this will do a normal update of the system same as Windows Update installing updates. If so then I'm waiting for April 11th to get the Media Creation Tool so I can do a clean install.

 

@wordsworth: Yes that is exactly what it means...I'll be doing it myself...i did the upgrade last year and it's been fine and i like the fact that it keeps everything i installed as well as my data, intact...*Smile

 

Well it has just been released on RPR.

 

It does not matter if activated or not - it will still update.

 

You can download iso now from Slow Ring download site and clean install now.

 

I've deferred updates and will wait a while to upgrade depending what problems I see reported on the forum. I have low expectations of MS software quality control.

 

We (the users) are best QC. Just follow what's happening with insider builds.

 

I'll probably try it, safe in the knowledge I have a disk image to revert back to. My current W10 Pro install is heavily customised and so I will be intrigued to see how an 'upgrade installation fares'. Again, with disk images I can try a clean install as well.

 

Well that didn't prevent major upgrade issues before!

 

Maybe it didn't prevent them but did help in finding them. No company can afford thousands if not hundreds of thousands different configurations to test every possible configuration but a well placed and received beta can.
In this case, all you have to do is look at insiders with similar configurations and using 15063 to see what you will get. Taking MS's word for it is less reliable no matter how good/bad is their QC.

 

I did this a few days ago and after I did I am not on the Insiders Preview Program any more. I have a clean install of 1703 build 15063.0 and it running well.

 

If @wordsworth is a registered Insider. Pretty sure that's correct.

 

Have just changed an RTM to an Insider Preview setup, (I am already an insider on another computer)
This included two Build 1607 KB,s.....3190507 and 3201921....these are not on nor available on my other RTM,s.
Needed for the update to Build 1703 Insider Preview perhaps.

Added note.....how long after registering for this update before installation as not yet available.?

 

Not sure dencal, but I think those two were just the CU's for Release Preview this year, the "tickler" updates. What MS would refer to as the little updates that are safe without going full Insider. When I went 14393>15063, it was from a long standing Release Preview, and I did not get those.....probably because I already had them. Of course, now update history only shows the 15063. Still shows in Update History as "Insider Preview".....

 

I've never been an Insider although I've thought several times since even before Win 10 was released of becoming one. I'll just have to wait while tapping my fingers on the desk. *Smile
