Windows 10 Creators Update roll out on track and expanding

I've been updated to creators, took about 45" and it looks like I'll have to relearn where some 'apps' have been relocated. *Think I don't see any display flickering and have to wait until my better half checks hers.

When my system came back to the desktop I had to fiddle with the icons, darn 10 wouldn't let me put them where I wanted them an they snapped back but all I did was checked then unchecked the align by grid and I was able to put them how I wanted. Edge and Firefox took a few extra seconds to open, I'll have to keep an eye on that.

    All in all not bad.

Here's something I wish I knew earlier from Shawn's link:

I'm so pleased I haven't been offered the CU for my 3 year old Dell laptop yet since many upgrades reported on the forum appear to have had problems.

Well a restore should take less than an hour unless you have a massive C drive. I always partition drive if only one drive to store data on different drive/partitition to cd drive to keep size of c drive lean and mean.

This amuses me when I read this. If you look back over time, you would see CU is no different to RTM from 7/8, th2, or AU. All upgrades give some issues for a minority.

There were just as many problems if not more on previous versions. Indeed AU had a couple of major bugs that affected a few people e.g.external drives being seemingly wiped, and webcams not working.

Also one gets a jaundiced view as people only post when they have an issue. People rarely post to say things are ok.

As with ALL upgrades, always make an image backup first, and then you can upgrade safely. That article is disengenuous really as it implies risk of upgrading is high - it is not.

  5. In addition what people need to remember is that forums like this one and my own vehicle enthusiast forum are there, on the whole to help people that do have issues, you do not see many of the thousands out there that have had no issues come on and say they are happy....

I let my 12 month old HP Envy update a couple of weeks ago and so far it has been great, no major issues apart from one minor niggle that others have reported which is if you open action centre the location service will appear to keep running or it leaves the icon on the taskbar... This is also on the feedback hub..

Reading forums I believe that a vast majority of computers that do seem to have issues are one's that have been upgraded when they offered Windows 10 for free, my old HP notebook went from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I had a few issues so decided to restore it back to Windows 7 ... i.e black screen after sleep mode... I may try a clean install rather than an upgrade to see how that goes *Smile

I think that although Microsoft say your PC/Notebook was compatible maybe it was not 100% ..

You see far fewer issues on a newer OEM Windows 10 computer...

I for one love Windows 10, note book came with the early version, upgraded to the AU update and now the CU update, each time it has gone smooth and without issues...
