Windows 10: Windows 10 Critcal_Process_Died error

I did a second PC installing windows 10 last night from DVD.
After getting up this morning I had a blue screen showing for a repair option?

The repair option failed, so I did a restore, it started over took a long time.
Had to setup everthing again.

After getting back into the OS in just a few minutes I now get "Critical_Process_Died".
computer freezes, same problem.

This was a fresh install, on an older computer I built several years ago.
What should I do next, thanks for your help.*Eek

Windows update has crashed the device with error "critcal_process_died".

I have recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 on my laptop. Windows 10 has run really well for 6 months. Last week on the 8th May a windows update has crashed the device to such an extent that I can not do anything including reset to factory setting. The
last message was "critcal_process_died".

Any ideas of what this is and how to get some life into a 3 year old laptop?

 

CRITCAL_PROCESS_DIED on boot

My PC booted fine 2 days ago. Yesterday morning I got a CRITCAL_PROCESS_DIED message. The recovery disk doesn't work and none of the advanced options do either. Any suggestions? Thanks

Have you tried sfc /scannow command yet? This will find Corrupted system files if any. Also make sure your current drivers are all upto date.

Nope cant get into safe mode now, doesn't see the drive so it may be bad.
MiniTool says the MBR is bad, so if I cant fix it, might as well just get a new box.
In the beginning I could reload the OS now I cant seem too.

This home built one is 12 years old so maybe its time now. Wife's computer so it gets no hard usage.

OK, I tried something that looks like it worked.

Using MiniTool I completely deleted the partition, erased it with all zeros, then started over.
Its not rebooting randomly anymore and seems to be stable....crossing my fingers this install holds.

 

This morning all I had was a black screen, nothing?

So I remembered when I built this system it had a secondary ATA controller on board.
Intel made them that way before they were integrated.
Sure enough, device manager showed it disabled. I looked at the link
above and it gave info on looking for this.

When back into BIOS and disabled it there, I have no devices attached to it
so it's not needed.

Now it starts better and a lot faster, still crossing my fingers this was it
together with disk corruption.

 

Worked fine for a day and 1/2, now this morning back to same blue screen
so I give up. Friend of mine has been urging me to buy a Mac, this is incentive.

Been a windows user since win 3.0, but windows 10 looks like nothing but trouble.
I'll keep my own box and buy a new one for the wife, just not worth the time and aggravation.
