Windows 10: Windows 10 custom pc. Several errors

Hi! I built my pc roughly 3 years ago, and have been adding parts ever since. Last christmas, 2018, i got an ssd for it. I used a mirroring software to copy my hdd over and all was successful. My problems started about 3-4 weeks ago.


Issue #1: when i would leave my pc idle for longer then about 15-20 minutes, it would hard freeze as soon as i pressed a key or moved the mouse. The monitor would display my games or whatever was on screen, and everything would move and function until i tried to input. The screen will freeze, and the only way to make anything happen would be to shut it down.


Issue #2: this happened tonight, when i turned on my pc, i was able to login fine. But when i hovered over my task bar, my cursor would turn into the blue loading circle, and would make me unable to open anything. My cursor would return to normal if it wasnt over the task bar. So i shut it down. Now its currently “Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete.” Im writing this while waiting on it to get finished.



When Issue #1 became aggravating, i ran the Fresh Start option on my ssd. I removed my hdd because it only holds my steam games and some tools. And it worked! I left my pc idle all night and was able to interact with it without turning it off. I thought it was the end of the problem, but it returned after about 3 days. Anyways, in need of help. Here are my specs.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
