Windows 10: Windows 10 Cut + Paste corrupting images

Today my mum was trying to copy paste files from her phone to her PC hard drive. It's something that should be a standard operation and something which shouldn't go wrong. My mum use cut in order to clear up space on her phone in the process, of course. Right out of the gate it was acting very strange, taking around 20 minutes to transfer a few hundred photos from an iPhone 3G. Very few of the files were more than 2 megabytes and there were only a few videos. To my surprise, when checking to see if the photos transferred properly, around half of them were not viewable by Windows Photo Viewer. At first I thought it may be a problem with the iPhone's file format, however there were many pictures of the same format which were viewable. When I looked deeper, it showed that all of the corrupted photos where 613MB. Yes, 613 megabytes. When opening these files in a hex editor I saw 613MB's worth of 00 bytes, as well as a header that was either overwritten by the 00s or completely corrupted. The phone was connected by USB the entire time during the transfer and continued to be connected just fine afterwards. Now the photos, as far as I'm aware, are irrecoverable. If anyone has had this problem and actually recovered their photos I would love some help, but absolutely no file repair programs are working (not surprising, given the extent of Microsoft's idiocy) and I have not found anyone with the same problem anywhere on the internet.

Cut and Paste Problem

• Are you trying to cut and paste a folder from an external device?
  
• Do you have any other User accounts on the computer? Did you check the files in other User accounts if any?
  
• Was there any interruption during the cut and paste process?
  
• If the cut and paste process was interrupted, did you receive any error code or error message?
  

I suggest you to check the missing files in the Recycle Bin and try recovering the files. You can also try manually searching the files by entering the file name in the search bar.

Please refer this article and run the diagnostic tool to troubleshoot on the issue.

To assist you better, please provide few details.

• 
  Is the issue confined with the specific game/application? Are you able to copy/cut and paste the files in your system?
  
• 
  What is the make and model of your computer?
  

If the issue is confined to specific game, I suggest you to uninstalling and reinstall the game and check if it helps.

If the issue occur with all system files/folder, I suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

Cut and Paste procedure is NOT "cutting"

Hi. I am engaged in a lengthy exercise to shift a heap of files from RAR-type folders to normal folders.

I am cutting-and-pasting. However, Windows is NOT cutting, it is copying and pasting and I then have to go back to delete the file.

Why O why O why will this. !%^$% system not do as it is told. Have we slowly morphed into an Apple lookalike where nerds "know" what is best for us?

When I "cut", I want it cut!

Anyone know why this is occurring?

Suggestions appreciated.
