Windows 10: windows 10 december update - intel hd610 igpu black screen during install.

Hi ,


After my pc updated and i was attempting to load FIFA 19 i received a couple of flickers and the screen went black / grey / The blue power light is still showing on my monitor . Rebooted the pc and the O/S selection screen did not appear visually ( although it is still there and i can press return and tell that it is loading windows 10) . Rebooted into Safe Mode and removed the Intel Driver ( automatically replaces with microsoft basic driver ) restart and then load into windows normally.


Windows then after a few moments attempts to reinstall the latest driver from intel and during that process i recieve the grey/black screen again.

Rebooted into safe mode several times and tried several different older versions of intel drivers with no luck .


Installed windows 10 onto a separate partition and even that fresh install has the same issues .


I have noticed that the standard plug and play monitor driver in safe mode is using a 64hz refresh rate whlst my samsung s24d330h montnor supports 60 hz . I cannot change the refresh rate in windows display properties - advanced monitor settings .. to anything other than 64hz as it is the only option .


My pc has been working fine up until a few hours ago and the only thing that has changed is this windows update .


i have tried system restore also .


any thoughts ?

PC goes into black screen and froze

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's not a software related issue which is why I was suggesting that you remove the video card to start with since it's such an easy process of elimination step.

I'm not familiar with AMD CPUs, I did see that you had listed in your system specs but I had no idea whether or not it has an iGPU

Is there any possibility of you being able to get your hands on any compatible video card at all?it would be the easiest step to try to troubleshoot or at least one of the easier ones. You should be able to get into the bios without anything but A display cable hooked up to the motherboard

 

Black Screen after restarting computer (after installing intel HD 3000 graphics using teamviewer)

Windows 7 black screen of death

I read a report a little while ago that said the black screens were nothing to do with updates but due to a malicious program (it hit more than just windows 7 users - vista, xp and 2000 were also prone to the black startup screen of death if infected). My windows 7 install is fully up-to-date and i've never had the black startup screen.

Just run some decent anti virus and you should be safe (i suggest microsoft security essentails since it's free and pretty decent). When you've installed an anti-virus i'd suggest doing a full scen to be sure there's nothing there.
