  1. Windows 10 Desktop Boot Problem

In addition to my other computers, I have a home-built Windows 10 desktop.
    • Main board is EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI
    • CPU is Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300
    • 4 Gigs RAM
    • Two physical drives installed
    • Operating system has been upgraded over and over, and two years ago it was up to Windows 10.
    • I also have what I assumed was an emergency startup DVD, "System Repair Cooler Master Win 10 64 Bit 9/3/15"

I haven't used the computer in two years. Back then, I was upgrading through the newer and newer releases of Windows 10. When I got my Lenovo W530 laptop, that took over as my main computer. Then I had work done on my house, and the desktop was moved off to a corner for a while. I am trying to get it going again.

When I start it, all seems normal, but then I get this:
    File. \windows\system32\winload.exe
    Status 0xc0000605
Info A component of the operating system has expired

When I boot from the DVD, I get into trouble shooting, with three choices:
CONTINUE ....which brings me back to the Windows 10 startup which fails as noted above.

    SHUT OFF PC (useless), and

    TROUBLESHOOT

    RESET THIS PC (fails)

    ADVANCED OPTIONS

SYSTEM RESTORE (fails, can't find a restore point)
SYSTEM IMAGE RECOVERY (I don't have an image file for this)
STARTUP REPAIR > Windows 10 > (see down below, sounded promising...)
COMMAND PROMPT (works fine, but what to do????)
GO BACK TO PREVIOUS BUILD (fails)

STARTUP REPAIR eventually came up with:
Startup Repair Couldn't Repair your PC. Press "Advanced Options" to try other options.....
    Logfile E:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
"Advanced Options" (back to choices that don't work)

The most promising hint is at the end of the SrtTrail.txt log file:

"The Operating System Version is Incompatible with the Startup Repair"

    ------------------

I don't know enough to figure what to try next. I called Microsoft Tech Support, and they just tried all the above choices.

I'm thinking I might change the date in the BIOS, so the expired file might work again?????

Do I need to buy a new copy of Windows 10. ???
I had Windows 7, and updated, updated, updated and so on as I went through many early versions of 10.... and the last one I used very likely did expire by now.

I have a two year old copy of Windows 10 on a USB Memory Stick.
I also have an ISO file (haven't made a DVD yet) of Windows 10 that I purchased last week for a different computer, but it is Windows 10 Home, not Pro.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

    windows 10 boot problems

I had windows 10 installed on my old laptop, I also had a boot problem, but my HDD just stopped spinning and I was unable to load windows.
It still had the Asus factory recovery partition which I used to reinstall windows 7.
I found out that my HDD was fine in windows 7, nothing wrong with it, staying with windows 7 SP1 on this laptop and I stay with windows 8.1 on my main laptop.
    No windows 10 for me!
