Hi guys, my computer reloads its desktop continuously every time when it is connected to a network. However, this doesn’t happen when there is no network connection.

Have you tried reloading the driver for the network device?

  5. Hello HT8142 Welcome to the Ten Forums!

I have to wonder if your lan or power plan settings are to blame for this. If you go to Start>Settings>Power & Sleep under "Sleep" you find the "Related settings" additional power settings which brings up the "Choose or Customize power plan" screen for selecting Balanced, High Performance, or creating your own custom power scheme. In the "Change advanced power settings" you will find options like the "Allow wake up timers" option found under "Sleep" is enabled and needs to be disabled if that was somehow changed from the default setting.

That would be a possible explanation for why the desktop is being reset when having a working network connection.

  7. Another place to check on would be in the Bios setup to see if there's a "Wake up by Lan" option in there that was left enabled. This is an option primarily used by businesses not the home user unless running a home network of some type for the work at home environment. Companies would simply see all of their office machines come to life at the start of the work day with a time wake up.

The other thing that could possibly trip the desktop up into resetting itself would be remote access if your system is set that way which is disabled by default. Generally you would need to go into the Control Panel>System>Advanced settings>Remote tab in order to enable the Remote desktop option with any version going back to XP. The Remote Assistance option however is found enabled by default if you are somehow receiving some type of remote access control signal by way of the network connection you have there. Disabling this might solve the problem.

While running with a Remote access type program here to have not only access but control over the second machine the main system has that option disabled to prevent reverse access and control. But finding the Remote Assistance enabled by default would be design by MS for remote access when contacted to solve a problem. I would tend to suspect one of these two before assuming any other source at first sight for security purposes not that you are being hacked in any way but to confirm or rule them out.

  9. Well at least now you know that can be ruled out and why I had you try it. So now we know something is buggy there we need to be looking at.

When you mentioned that each time you have the system connected to the network is that your home network as far modem and router or combination or elsewhere? Are you signed into an MS account when this happens? or using the Local account option available for signing in without needing to assign a password or pin code?

If you signed up for an MS account during the set up of 10 you may be getting bumped out from having a need to recover the password and see that reset. All it would take is being off by a single digit being a letter or number in the password you enter to see you bumped when the account login won't accept it.
