Windows 10: Windows 10 desktop wallpaper is missing after coming out of sleep - until explorer.exe is...

I'm trying to troubleshoot my wife's PC. We both got bee-link U59 mini-PCs in the last 6 months. Mine is fine and my wife's PC has an issue that I can't figure out. I'm not a windows expert, but I have been using the OS since windows 3.1 in the 90s : Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.The ISSUE:If my wife's computer is asleep overnight, the next morning when she wakes it up and unlocks it with her windows hello pin the desktop wallpaper is missing. Both monitors have a black background, the taskbars show and hide when moused-over but are empty of icons.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Computer Sleep Option Missing in Settings

The Settings Power and Sleep menu in Settings should list Screen and Sleep, where Sleep is used to tell when the PC goes to sleep. Sleep is missing, so my computer never sleeps. Fast startup and Hibernate are not enabled.

I used Tutorial Add or Remove Sleep in Power menu in Windows 10 to change the registry while in administrative mode, but sleep still is not seen.


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FlyoutMenuSettings now lists :1: It was 0 before the change.






I cannot get a large image, so will type

I used Option 3 to add sleep using the Group Policy Editor. The steps seemed to work fine, but sleep is still missing.

I’m using a “new” refurbished Dell T3500 workstation with mbr running the current version of win10. I have a number of these computers, and the other all have the normal sleep mode .

Any suggestions? Jim

 

Wallpaper setup in Windows 10

try this

1 create new shortcut
2 where it says type in location > C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,@desktop
3 name it something like win8 old skool wallpaper menu or Donald Duck was here or ... whatever.
