Windows 10: Windows 10 dictation not working properly.

I use a Windows 10 PC and I am in Canada, not the USA. I decided to try using dictation, for now using Notepad or Wordpad until I have things figured out. It took a lot of effort but I think I finally got all the settings correctly set and it finally started to work. It was working fairly well with mostly problems with punctuation and the like, including the censoring I know two different '****'s well, i.e. Richards, and anytime I refer to them I get the dreaded '****', lol.My real issue started a couple of days ago after several days of working fine. Sometimes the dictation text would freez

1. Are you using dictation in Windows or Office application?
   
2. Since when are you facing this issue?
   
3. Did you make any changes to the computer before this issue started?
   

I suggest you to follow the below mentioned steps:

Step 1: To dictate text:

1. Open Speech Recognition by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking Windows Speech Recognition.

2. Say "start listening" or click the Microphone button to start the listening mode.

3. Open the program you want to use or select the text box you want to dictate text into.

4. Say the text that you want dictate.

Diarium dictation does not work

I just bought Diarium Premium because the description said it handles audio dictation. However, when I click the Diarium microphone icon for dictation, it just says 'Listening....' and nothing happens when I talk into my microphone. Using the same microphone,
I can create, save, and playback an audio file in Diarium, so I know my microphone is working properly. I'm running Diarium on Windows 10 desktop and plugging my mic into the front mic jack of my computer. My mic works on other audio apps like Windows Voice
Recorder and the audio file part of Diarium. But Diarium dictation does not work. Can you suggest something to make it work. Otherwise, how do I get a refund on my purchase of Diarium? As I said, dictation was the main reason I bought it, and if that doesn't
work, I don't want it.

What is the make and model of your device?

I suggest you to try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.

Follow the steps given below to run Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.

  Type Troubleshooting in the Search box from the desktop.
  
• 
  Select the Troubleshooting option.
  
• 
  Select View All option and select the
  Search and Indexing.
  
• 
  Click on Next to perform the Search and Indexing troubleshooter and follow the steps.
  

Method 2: I suggest you to search for the latest drivers for your device from the Microsoft website, try to download all the updates and check if it helps.
