  1. Windows 10 disk "repair" seems to have left my brand new external HD unusable!

Please help. Windows 10 "repair" sees to have left my external HD unusable. I was backing up my data from the PC internal HD in the 4TB Toshiba external HD NTFS formatted when there was a power interruption. After it, I checked both disks with WIndows 10 disk properties check , the internal was OK but about the external it said it had "errors". But in fact I checked that the external disk worked well and had a lot of correct files inside maybe only the last ones were damaged. I did nothing but the next day I decided to use the WIndows "repair" feature. It lasted a good while, near 30min,

    :)

  2. Win 10 System Image on an external, brand new HD is hanging at approx. 22-25% for ever!

    Who can help me, please?

Win 10 System Image on an external, brand new HD is hanging at approx. 22-25% for ever!

    • Notebook HP Pavilion dv6-6012ez (4-5Years old).

    • Bevor Win 7.

    • Change to Win 10.

    • Everything does functioning good and stable, but ….

    • I can’t produce a System Image on an external, brand new HD (500GB).

    • It keeps continuous hanging at approx. 22-25% for ever.

    • To get rid of it, I have to cancel the process.

    • After scanning the build in HD C:\ there is no error at all !!!

    • So, what goes wrong, what ca I do?

I would appreciate any qualified help.

      Thanks - Rolf

external hard drive showing up in device management but not disk management

    Hi,

I recently tried to use a brand new Seagate 2TB External HD, but it is not showing up. It initially showed up, but after I tried reformatting it to exFAT32, it disappeared from the disk management list.

    I then tried:

    • refreshing the disk management list,
    • inserting into a different USB port,
    • re-starting my computer, and
    • uninstalling the device from device manager/letting it refresh,

I still can't see it. There is no yellow error in the USB controller list.

    I'm on Windows 10.

    Intel i5-3317U @ 1.7GHz

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    External HD Connection Problem

I have attached an external HD to my computer running Windows 10 and it will not show up in my drive list. The properties shows it as Seagate.ink - what is an ink file and any suggestions as to how I can get it to work?
